Wyndham Jade Donates to Autism Awareness

Company Made Donation, Raised Awareness at Industry Events

PLANO, TX -(May 1, 2015) -Wyndham Jade is proud to support Autism Awareness Month and do its part to Shine a Light on Autism. To help raise awareness, Wyndham Jade advocated for the cause at two industry events: ASAE’s Springtime Expo 2015 on April 9 in Washington, D.C. and DFWAE’s Association Day 2015 on April 13 in Dallas.

At these shows Wyndham Jade collected business cards from industry professionals and offered to donate to autism research in each person’s name. The company also distributed autism awareness pins and T-shirts as a small thank you to those who dropped off their business cards. Wyndham Jade also matched the total amount of the donations collected from both events.

“Our hope is that our small gesture can help make a big difference in autism awareness,” said Roy Benear, Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Wyndham Jade. “Autism affects millions of people in this country, and we want to do our part to help raise awareness about this great cause. The meetings and convention business thrives on relationships, and we were honored to leverage our relationships to make a difference for Autism Awareness Month.”

A few facts about autism:

• According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in 68 American children are diagnosed with autism.
• More than three million people in the U.S. are affected by autism, and that number is only growing.
• Boys are almost five times more likely than girls to be diagnosed with autism.
• There is no medical detection or cure for autism.

Autism Speaks is the world’s largest autism science and advocacy organization dedicated to funding research, raising awareness and advocating for the needs of people and families with autism. Each year, Autism Speaks sponsors Light It Up Blue, a global campaign in honor of World Autism Awareness Day on April 2.

Founded in 1995, The Autism Society provides the latest information on autism to people who need it, advocates for state and local legislation, hosts an annual conference on autism, provides support to families dealing with autism and promotes the advancement of knowledge about autism.
